The annual Qur’an memorization competition organized by Jamia Mosque will kick off next weekend with the girls’ event.
The event to be held on May 11 and 12 has attracted 70 participants from 45 madrasas and institutions in Nairobi and surrounding areas.
This will be followed by the boys’ event which will be held from May 16 and resume on May 18 and May 19.
Over 146 participants have registered to participate in the three days event that are categorized into four categories of 5 chapters, 10 chapters, 15 chapters and the whole Qur’an respectively.
Participants will show their unique skills in the art of Qur’an memorization during the Jamia Girls Quran competition for next weekend event which is aimed at nurturing young minds in preserving the Qur’an and its message.
In addition, Jamia Mosque for the fourth year running will be organizing a Hadith competition on May 25.
Participants both males and females will be assessed in their knowledge of the Prophet’s tradition (hadith).
The Hadith competition has attracted 35 participants from various madrassas.
Various prizes have been lined up for participants in the competitions which will be sponsored and organized by Jamia Mosque Committee in conjunction with Direct Aid formerly Africa Muslim Agency.
