Somali information minister Dahir Mohamud Gelle has resigned from his position in the cabinet, citing policy differences with the country’s federal administration.
Mr Gelle confirmed his resignation in a telephone interview with the Somali service of Voice of America.
In a 5-minute interview with VOA Somali, he cited differences of opinion on a number of domestic and foreign issues for his departure.
“I thought about my position in the government for a long time before making the final decision,” he said.
“I don’t want to criticise the government I’ve just been part of…but I’ve thought about this for sometime.”
State-owned Radio Mogadishu said Mohamed Abdi Hayir Mareye has been appointed as replacement.
Mr Mareye is the immediate former minister of commerce.
Abdullahi Ali Hassan was named the new commerce minister, Radio Mogadishu said.
