Italian defence minister Elisabetta Trenta made unannounced trip to Mogadishu on Monday for talks with her Somali counterpart on bilateral and military cooperation.
Somali defence minister Hassan Ali Mohamed said the talks included discussions on “reactivation of defence agreements” between the two countries.
He did not give further details.

Relations between the two nations date back to when Italy was the colonial master of the dominantly Muslim nation.
