Somali woman wins praise for tough questioning of Ethiopian PM

A Somali woman has won plaudits from the online Somali community after finding a way to ask Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed some tough questions that took him almost half an hour to respond to.

Raho Taib from Ethiopia’s Somali Region was widely praised for asking Mr Ahmed why the vast Somali-dominated region had the poorest infrastructure in the country.

She said:  “The Somali region lags behind in growth and development due to the policies of the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front.”

“Over the last 27 years, we were just spectators as the party ruled the country with dictatorship”.

Some of the others questions she asked relate to the upcoming Ethiopian national census and the reopening of the Jijiga-Addis Ababa road.
