Ethiopian Premier meets leader of breakaway Somali region

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy ahmed Ali today met with the visiting president of the self-declared Republic of Somaliland.

Local media have reported that Mr Bihi accepted Prime Minister Abiy’s call to strengthen the close working relationship between the Somaliland Administration and the Federal Government of Somalia.

PM Abiy also discussed Ethiopia’s utilisation of the Berbera Port in Somaliland.

The Somaliland leader was arrived in Addis Ababa today and was received by Ethiopian Finance Minister, Ahmed Shide and the state minister for foreign affairs, Hirut Zemene.

Earlier, there were reports that Bihi would meet Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo in Addis Ababa.

President Farmajo did not however travel to the Ethiopian capital but instead returned to Mogadishu after official visits to Burundi and Djibouti.
