Somalia’s Finance Minister Abdirahman Duale Beyle today hosted Bella Bird, head of the World Bank in some East African countries, at his office in Mogadishu. Bird is the World Bank’s head for Somalia, Tanzania, Burundi and Malawi.
According to Beyle, the two discussed development, economic reforms and ways to further enhance relations between Somalia and the World Banka.
“I was honoured to host Bella Bird, head of the World Bank in parts of East Africa such as Somalia, Tanzania, Burundi and Malawi, at my office today. We discussed development, economic reforms and the strengthening of the ties between Somalia and the World Bank,” Minister Beyle said.
He said the World Bank was a very important organization for Somalia’s development.
The World Bank approved $80 million in grants to Somalia in September 2018, the first of such disbursement to the Horn of Africa country in 30 years.
